Golf industry veteran and former Class-A PGA professional Derek Mousseau recently joined the V1 Sports (V1) team as Regional Sales Manager for the Northeast and South Atlantic regions. Over the past several months, V1 Sports has launched numerous new tech products, platform upgrades and strategic partnerships to increase its benefit to golfers and teaching professionals.
Mousseau now works closely with a wide range of teaching professionals and PGA Section members from golf-savvy regions including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, New England, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the Carolinas, helping them optimize their academies with the right mix of state-of-the-art software and hardware from V1.
Mousseau, a Pennsylvania native, earned his MBA from Duquesne University and did his undergrad work at Campbell University where he graduated with a BBA and PGA Certification from the Professional Golf Management program. He taught golf (frequently using the V1 Pro video analysis platform) for several years at prestigious private clubs including The Pittsburgh Field Club and Edgewood Country Club.
Mousseau was Territory Sales Manager for Cobra-PUMA Golf for eight years and also spent time as a Regional Director for the luxury travel firm Signature Golf. He also enjoys giving back to the community and sits on the board of directors for The First Tee of Pittsburgh.
“I’m excited to join V1 Sports, the leader in video analysis for golf, especially at this time when the company is pushing so much high-quality product and innovation into the market,” Mousseau says. “The combined experience and ingenuity on the V1 staff is unrivaled. They’ve always had a great ‘learning culture’ committed to ongoing education that’s focused on golf improvement. I’m excited to share that with golfers and golf instructors.”
In addition to V1 Sports’ leading video capture and swing analysis systems, Mousseau will have plentay of new teaching enhancements to share with golf instructors. For example, V1 Sports recently became the technology developer and global sales and marketing force for the V1 Sports Pressure Mat Powered by BodiTrak, the first portable and affordable mat to record balance distribution information and Center of Pressure (COP) during the golf swing. Combining real-time data on a golfer’s weight transfer with V1’s top-in-class camera systems and video software makes each lesson more impactful and can markedly expedite a player’s improvement.
“I used the V1 Pro software as an instructor and it always enhanced the quality of my lessons and helped me build great relationships with my client base. The V1 Pro and V1 Golf mobile apps are hugely useful and beneficial to instructors and golfers, so I look forward to helping instructors modernize their lesson platforms and take advantage of V1’s cutting edge tools,” Mousseau says.
One of the golf industry’s most trusted developers of game-improvement technology, V1 Sports also recently entered the GPS game-tracking mobile app arena with the dynamic V1 Game app. With the V1 Game app, a mobile phone or Apple Watch becomes a golfer’s personal caddie and shot tracker. V1 Game’s powerful GPS data provides accurate yardages to greens, hazards and landing zones to help you navigate the course like a professional. After a round is completed,
V1 Game’s intuitive performance analysis technology provides statistics (including robust Strokes Gained data) that show the user’s strengths, weaknesses and paths to improvement.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Derek Mousseau to the V1 Sports team,” V1 Sports CEO Bryan Finnerty says. “His sales expertise and experience as a teaching professional will be greatly beneficial as he helps golf instructors, academies and anyone who needs the best in video swing analysis to bolster their teaching and develop more engaging lessons for their students.”
