When golfers attend one of the world’s largest and most-celebrated golf academies, expectations tend to run high. In addition to a knowledgeable and personable instruction staff with outstanding communication skills, the savvy student will be looking for the latest feedback tools and the sharpest technology to enhance and fast-track the learning experience.
When the global headquarters of the famed Leadbetter Golf Academy (LGA) at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Fla. recently decided to upgrade their video capture and instruction platform, they called V1 Sports Sales Director Matt Kernen for a solution to optimize the V1 Pro learning experience at the Leadbetter Academy’s flagship location.
Kernen recommended V1 Sports’ new state-of-the-art three-camera system. LGA Director of Instruction Sean Hogan said the reason he and his staff prefer three cameras is that one shows down-the-line views and the other two provide face-on feedback from either a right-handed or left-handed golfing position.
“We’ve been partners with V1 since 2003. They are definitely tops in the industry when it comes to capturing video analysis for our players,” Hogan said. “As we’ve always known, a picture is worth a thousand words and the high-def system is an absolutely beautiful install.”
The Leadbetter Golf Academy now uses the V1 Sports USB 3.0 cameras which can capture golf swings at an incredible 240 frames per second in High-Definition resolution. Kernen carefully mounted the new system for this permanent installation on a mirrored surface as well as on the concrete walls of the academy’s hitting bay. The result, as you can see in the image, is a state-of-the-art system built to elevate the teaching and learning interface for the expert Leadbetter staff and their students.
“You’ve got to get this system if you’ve got a hitting bay. It’s really going to make your lessons and your success as a teacher that much more impactful,” Hogan said.
The Leadbetter Golf Academy at ChampionsGate location was hand-selected and designed by Hall of Fame instructor David Leadbetter to give his students the ultimate learning experience. The academy features a four-acre practice area with two putting greens (16,000+ sq. ft.), two chipping greens (8,000+ sq. ft.) as well as a pitching area with 12 target bunkers.
Inside the academy building, Leadbetter’s staff utilizes seven state-of-the-art video rooms, an indoor/outdoor hitting bay, a Biomechanics and Golf Performance Studio, a Strength, Flexibility and Fitness Studio, an indoor putting room, and a full-service Club Fitting and Repair Shop.
